Things to Know About Liposuction Surgery

Liposuction, also called lipoplasty or liposculpture is a fat removal surgery that removes fat deposits from the body. Liposuction can help if you’ve tried diet and exercise but the fat won’t budge. You will have a smoother body shape after the procedure. Liposuction is not a weight-loss solution in and of itself. It is not an obesity treatment. There is a limit to how much fat can be safely removed. The belly, thighs, buttocks, arms, back, upper neck just under the chin, and jawline/jowls are some of the most common areas where fat is removed. However, if the patient does not maintain a healthy lifestyle following the procedure, the remaining fat cells may grow larger. The candidate must be at least 18 years old and in good health. Liposuction is not recommended for people who have circulatory or blood flow issues, such as coronary artery disease, diabetes, or a weakened immune system.
